Placing an announcement in The Wellman Advance
There is no charge to place most wedding, engagement, birth, birthday or anniversary announcements with clear connections to the Wellman area in The Wellman Advance.
You may submit them via the following methods:

Photos for all announcements may be submitted digitally, in person or via U.S. mail. Digital photos should have a resolution of no less than 300 dpi and 5 inches in width. Photos via U.S. mail should include a self-addressed stamped envelope if they are to be returned. Please DO NOT submit photo copies of pictures. They do not reproduce well. If the announcement and photo are not submitted together, please make a note of this, so that the announcement is not printed without the photo.

Birth announcements must include:

  • the full name of the baby
  • date of birth
  • the first and last names of the parents
  • where the parents reside

They may include the time and place of the birth (including hospital), names and ages of siblings, names and cities of grandparents, aunts, uncles and great-grandparents. Include a contact number or e-mail of the person submitting the information.

Engagement announcements must include:

  • the full names of the couple
  • their place of residence
  • who, if anyone is announcing the engagement
  • if a date and place for the wedding has been set

They may include the education and employment information of the engaged couple including high school and college, names of parents and their cities of residence, and the names of grandparents and their cities of residence. Also, the couple may include an invitation to families and friends to the ceremony and/or the reception, and provide the place and time for these events. Include a contact number or e-mail of the person submitting the information.

Wedding announcements must include:

  • the full names of the couple
  • their place of residence
  • the date and place of the ceremony
  • the attendants, if any

They may include the name of the minister, musicians, parents and cities of residence, and grandparents and cities of residence, and grandparents and cities of residence; if there was a reception and/or a honeymoon; and where the couple plans to reside. Include a contact number or e-mail of the person submitting the information.

Birthday and anniversary announcements should include:

  • relevant names
  • if there is a reception or card shower
  • the time place and address for the event

Also, include where to send cards and greetings. Include a contact number or e-mail of the person submitting the information.
