Ronnie Ulin

Ronnie Ulin, 67, of rural Green Mountain/Marshalltown, Iowa, died unexpectedly Friday, November 21, in his home.
Memorial services and a celebration of Mr. Ulin’s life was held Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in the Green Mountain United Church of Christ with Pastor Kim Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Green Mountain Cemetery with flag presentation honors by the American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46 of Marshalltown. Ronnie Ulin was born February 19, 1941, in Wellman, Iowa, the son of Ottis and Hazel (Matthess) Ulin. He was a graduate of Wellman High School and later received his AA degree from the Marshalltown Community College. He served the United States honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Thailand. He served from February, 1967, until being honorably discharged in October, 1969. January 26, 1964, he was united in marriage to Betty Hilsabeck. He was employed at Fisher Controls for 40 years and was a member of the Green Mountain United Church of Christ and the Green Mountain Lions Club - receiving honors of the Melvin Jones Fellowship and Warren Coleman Award. He also served as District Governor of District 9X8 in 1985-87.
Mr. Ulin is survived by his wife, Betty Ulin; sons James (Shonda) Ulin, Marshalltown; John Ulin, Aurora, Colorado; two granddaughters, Isabelle and Mina; a brother, Ivan Ulin, Wellman; a sister-in-law, Dee Ulin, Riverside, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Dave (Jean) Hilsabeck, Green Mountain; and a host of neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cedric Ulin.
