Floyd Franklin Yoder

Floyd Franklin Yoder, 89, of Wellman, Iowa, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 6, 2009, in the Wellman Mennonite Church, Wellman, with Rev. Marvin Hostetler officiating. Burial was in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Floyd Franklin Yoder was born April 13, 1920, near Kalona, Iowa, the son of Chris A. and Barbara (Troyer) Yoder. He was a 1940 graduate of Kalona High School. He served in CPS four years and was a smoke jumper for two years in Oregon and Washington. February 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Yoder in the Wellman Mennonite Church. Mr. Yoder lived and farmed in the Kalona community all his life. He was a member of Wellman Mennonite Church where he served as an elder, Sunday School Superintendent, and taught Sunday School. He served on Brush #8 school board for many years, IMS school board for six years, helped with the organization of Washington Township School, served on the Iowa Nebraska Conference Leadership Board for six years, and volunteered with MDS.
Mr. Yoder is survived by his wife, Marjorie Yoder, Wellman; four sons, Leland Yoder (Cammie), Kalona; Galen Yoder (Dixie), Hydro, Oklahoma; Curtis Yoder (Lois), Wellman; and Calvin W. Yoder (Judy), Kalona; a daughter, Rhonda Yoder (Danny Graber), Elkhart, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth A. Yoder, Wheaton, Illinois; and two sisters, Leola White, Kalona; and Minerba Yoder, Glendale, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Yoder; a sister, Geneva Yoder; and three brothers, Lester W. Yoder, Delmar Yoder, and Cecil Yoder.
