Omer E. Flanders, 92, of Nevada, died August 23, 2009, in Nevada. There will be no funeral service. The body was cremated and a memorial service will be held locally at a later date. Cards may be sent to the family Irma Flanders, PO Box 249, Minden, NV 89423.
Omer E. Flanders was born February 6, 1917, the son of William and Clara Griener Flander in Seventy-Six Township, Washington County, Iowa. Mr. Flanders farmed in the Wellman area. He served in World War II in the South Pacific. He married Irma Waechter August 4, 1948, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek, Iowa. The couple traveled and lived in Florida and California prior to settling near Minden, Nevada.
He is survived by his wife, Irma; a daughter, Cheryl and husband Robert Martinez, Sacramento, California; a grandson, Bobbie Martinez, Sacramento, California; two half sisters, Bertha and husband Robert Gretter, Williamsburg, Iowa; Dorothy and husband Hollis Sisk, Chesterfield, Missouri; and a half brother, David and Mary Fladung, Washington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marcella Durian; and a half brother, Donald Fladung.
