Amy C. Hervey, 86, of South English, Iowa, died Sunday, December 20, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A celebration of life was held Wednesday, December 23, at the North Keokuk Fire Station, South English. Memorials may be made to Parkview Manor in Wellman.
Amy C. Hervey was born June 26, 1923 near North English, Iowa, the daughter of Ray N. and Maude F. Foster Claypool. She graduated from North English High School. On June 26, 1941 she was united in marriage to Elroy William Hervey in Kirksville, Missouri. They lived in the North English community until moving to South English in 1962. She was a member of the North English Methodist Church and was active in the Twentieth Century Federated Women’s Club.
She is survived by her husband, Elroy Hervey, South English; five children, Ray Elroy (Connie) Hervey, Battle Creek, Michigan; Lyle Hervey, Des Moines, Iowa; Virginia (Dick) Swanson, San Antonio, Texas; Edward (Cheryl) Hervey, South English; Daryl (Maxine) Hervey, Wellman, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Christine Cortmeglia, Tracy Hervey, Kim Swanson, Mike Hervey, Cindy Menke, Brandy Lehman, Heather Trimpe, and Brian Hervey; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two grandchildren, Nancy and Jeff Swanson.
