Washington over Mid-Prairie
The Mid-Prairie girls’ basketball team lost 49-62 to Washington in the season opener Monday, November 19, at Wellman.
The Golden Hawks kept the game close until a 14-2 run in the third quarter by the Demons.
Missy Hershberger led Mid-Prairie’s offense with 17 points. Sarah Hoffman had 14 points, and Courtney Jenn scored 8. Hershberger pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the team. Cari Brenneman had eight rebounds.
Coach Marc Pennington said, “We did some good things tonight and obviously some things need to be improved. We gave up way too many points and really let their press heat up in the third quarter. We have a lot to work on before EIHC play starts Tuesday with Mt. Vernon.
“Washington has a nice team and they will win a lot of games. I thought Sarah Hoffman and Missy Hershberger were solid tonight in a losing cause.â€
