Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Kalona Elementary School Principal Jim Cayton, left, was joined by students and teachers, including Kerri Bell, at right, August 18 for the official ribbon cutting ceremony noting completion of Phase I of the playground improvements at the school. A legion of volunteers installed the rubberized red and green playground covering earlier this month. The same ype of covering will be installed for the rest of the playground in Phase II that is expected to be done next year. Funding came from donations and a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The project began in the fall of 2006. (Photo by Mary Zielinski)
