City hires engineering firm, looks at hiring public works director

At the Wellman City Council special Session Wednesday, January 14, the council hired H.R. Green Company as the engineering firm for the 2009 water treatment improvement project for the design and construction phase.
City Administrator Dave Ross said that through negotiations, the price for the engineering services will be $74,000 less than anticipated. Ross said, “Every penny will be passed directly to the consumer” in that the water rate increases will be less than otherwise necessary.
During a work session, the council discussed the city’s five-year capital improvements plan and the fiscal year 2010 budget. The hiring of a public works director was also discussed.
