Wellman council approves change orders
The Wellman City Council Monday in a brief meeting, approved three change orders for the Parkside Activities Center. Two were deductions and one was an additional cost.
The deductions were for $11,100 for a change recommended by the electrician for electrical work and $2,000 for deleting a bike rack because there is already one there.
The addition was for the revision of connection of the walking track - adding plate support to the track at an additional cost of $1,170.
There have been 19 change orders for the project to date, many of them having to do with improving drainage.
In other business, the council:
• decided to move forward with nuisance abatements for two Wellman properties;
• approved the Casey’s General Store application for cigarette sales permit; and
• learned that, although more chlorine has been added to the water system, the “breakpoint” has not been reached. The DNR has ordered the city to go to breakpoint which means more chlorine will be added. The city needs additional pumps to add more chlorine. It will be June before the official pilot begins with the reverse osmosis system, but the high chlorine levels may begin this week.
