Marvin C. Yoder, 84, a resident of Pleasantview Home, Kalona, Iowa, died there Friday, October 31, 2008, following a lengthy illness.
A celebration of life service was held November 5, 2008, in the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman, Iowa. Pastor Marlene Jansen officiated. Burial was in the West Chester Cemetery, West Chester, Iowa. Marvin C. Yoder was born September 15, 1924, near Wellman, the son of Cornelius and Eugena (Testruit) Yoder. He served in the U.S. Army from September 3, 1943, until March 4, 1946. July 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Miller in Bettendorf, Iowa. He owned Marv’s DX Gas Station in West Chester. He lived in the Wellman and West Chester communities throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Yoder is survived by two sons, Richard (Lorna) Yoder, Boulder, Colorado; and Ronald (Debbie) Yoder, Casper, Wyoming; two daughters, Carla Brunk, West Chester; and Carmen (Chris) Woods, Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Bernice Darnald, Malvern, Iowa; Leila Stroeh, LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Margaret Brogla, Coralville, Iowa; and Janice Wenman, Coralville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Yoder; four sisters, Dessel, Glennis, Wilma, and Doris; a brother, Don; and a son-in-law, Phil Brunk.
