Carolina Kemp, 71, of Kalona, Iowa, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, in her home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Carolina Kemp portrait
A celebration of life service was Monday, July 13, 2009, in Kalona Mennonite Church, Kalona, with Pastor Scott Swartzendruber officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, rural Kalona. Carolina Kemp was born June 28, 1938, in Kalona, the daughter of Benedick S. and Katie Ann Yoder Kemp. She was an anesthesia technician at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, and did reflexology in her home. She was a member of Kalona Mennonite Church.
She is survived by seven siblings, Samuel Kemp, Kalona; Elmer Kemp, Arthur, Illinois; Alta (Elmer G.) Miller, Kalona; Alvin (Rachel) Kemp, Wellman, Iowa; Edna (Milford) Yoder, Wellman; Noah (Linda) Kemp), Kalona; and Mary Jane (Stanley Doyle) Yoder Sr., Ozark, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Betty Kemp, Iowa City; 32 nieces and nephews; and a family friend, Carol Bakker, Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Henry Kemp, Omer Kemp, and Maynard Kemp; a sister, Fannie; and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kemp and Ella Kemp.
