Marion Lee Barnes

WASHINGTON – Marion Lee Barnes, 62, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services were Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman with Pastor Mark Larson officiating. A general memorial fund has been established. Marion Lee Barnes was born August 17, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Jack and Ada Arlene (Binley) Barnes. He attended Wellman High School in Wellman, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy. He married Fatima Rahali in Morocco, they later divorced. He had worked as a custodian at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Mr. Barnes is survived by two sons, Mustapha Steve Barnes and Hafid David Barnes, both of North Liberty, Iowa; six grandchildren; step-father, Owen Bringman, Wellman; six brothers, Rollin Barnes, Albert “Barney” Barnes, Steve Barnes, Jack Barnes, all of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Kenny Barnes, Coralville, Iowa; Mark Bringman and wife Angie, Washington; and a sister, Della Stafford and husband Jay, Aurora, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ada Arlene Bringman.
