IMS vs. WACO

by Mary Yoder

Along with the freezing cold outside, the IMS girls had a hard time warming up in the match-up against WACO on Tuesday evening, January 13. They were held to just two points, scored by Carly Unruh, in the first quarter — well below their normal output for the season. Waco led 18-2 at the end of one.
IMS was able to score a bit more in the second quarter, but had too many turnovers to pull back within striking distance. WACO took a 31-14 lead into halftime.
IMS was unable to put together a sustained scoring drive in the third quarter, as WACO’s stifling defense made it difficult for IMS to score. Anna Spencer came off the bench in the fourth quarter to score five points and played great defense. Linnea Slabaugh also came off the bench and played well. WACO pulled away with a 55-27 win.
Elizabeth Miller led IMS scorers with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Kelsey Schrock had 7 points, 4 assists and 4 steals; Carly Unruh had 6 points and Anna Spencer added 5 points.
