7th Grade Little Hawks

Submitted by Steve Hollan
The seventh grade “Little Hawks” football team went into game number four October 6, against North Cedar with the goal that growth and improvement could be seen. Captains for the game were Jordan Ulin, Brad Fanatia, Jacob Kukuzke, Dylan Schrock, and Zach Burrell.
The game started out a little shaky for the Hawks when North Cedar returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. But after that the Hawks settled down some, and they were able to move the ball offensively. Mid-Prairie came up with some big plays defensively.
The offense was able to move the ball with Jackson Yoder at the helm and Ulin, Christiansen, and Matt McGaffey in the backfield. The lineman leading the way and showing a great deal of improvement from game one to game four are Austin Slabaugh, Dylan Schrock, and Trent Fisher. These young men have gone up against guys that have been nearly twice as large as them all season long and have done well and have come to expect it and deal with it, knowing it’s not all about size, but also heart and determination.
The first score of the season for the seventh graders came late in the game when
Jackson Yoder rolled out to the right and saw an opening and scrambled 12-yards into the end zone. Carsen Christiansen added the two point conversion making the final score 28-8 in favor of North Cedar.
