MP Boys Defeat Wilton
by Ranee Fladung
Mid-Prairie boys’ basketball team defeated Wilton in a physical conference game on the road January 12, 61-52. “Wilton is an excellent three point shooting team and defensive team,” said coach Don Showalter. “I thought Wilton took us out of our offense somewhat and made us work for every basket.”
Tanner Miller led the team in double figures with 23. “Miller made some big free throws down the stretch to seal the win,” said coach Showalter. “That’s what we expect from a veteran player.”
The Hawks led at the half by one point 31-30. In the third quarter M-P held Wilton to eight points to build a 7 point lead going into the fourth quarter.
Quinn Hollan stepped up in the second half and hit 13 of his 15 points in the second half. Dylan Hochstetler led the team with seven rebounds for the night.
Jordan Yotty and Aaron Smit came off the bench in the second quarter when Dylan Hochstetler and Kaleb Duwa got into foul trouble. “Mark Aldeman deserves a lot of credit for working the offense throughout the game with good continuity and some good shots,” said coach Showalter. The Hawks shot at 49 percent for the night and brought down 27 rebounds over Wiltons 19.
