IMS Girls vs. Mediapolis
The Iowa Mennonite girl’s basketball team experienced a frigid atmosphere outside and inside the gymnasium Tuesday, January 26, when they traveled to Mediapolis High School for a Southeast Super Conference match up with the Bulldogs.
Battling illness and injury, IMS struggled to get momentum in the first half of play. An early lead by the Bulldogs posed an insurmountable disadvantage to Iowa Mennonite as the girls were down 41-6 at half-time.
The second verse would be just as the first. Each team scored four points out of the break, but IMS’s shooting woes would continue through much of the third quarter.
In the fourth, Iowa Mennonite started to heat up a bit, but too little, too late as they fell 73-25.
IMS was led in scoring by junior Carly Unruh with seven points, while classmate Mo Brenneman hit four free-throws. Freshman Laura Hochstetler notched four points also, while junior Emma Yutzy and senior Linnea Slabaugh added three each. Rounding out the scoring for IMS was junior Aliese Gingerich and senior Nicole Hershberger with two a piece.
