MP Girls Golf

The Mid-Prairie girls’ golf team opened their 2010 season with a 1 stroke loss to Wilton Friday, April 9, by a score of 196 to 197. Kelsie Berg led the way for the Golden Hawks with a score of 44 which was also good for meet medalist.
“Overall the kids played pretty well for the first meet of the year,” said Head Coach Tracy McArtor. “They all went back over their rounds and found places where they thought they could have made up that one stroke difference pretty easily.
“For the most part it sounds like their short game and putting is what gave them the most problems. We’ll take some extra time during practice this week and work hard on that part of the game. Otherwise, from tee to green things are not going too bad.”
Following Berg was Nicole Adams with 49, Linsey Thomann and Allison McArtor with 52’s, freshman Maddie Gent with 59 and Breanna McFarland with 67.
“We’ve got lot’s of good competition coming up on some good layouts for the girls to improve their games and have some fun,” said coach McArtor.
The girls’ JV squad came away with a 5 shot victory, 265 to 270. Kate Yoder was low with a score of 54, followed by Summer Gracey 65, Leah Parrott 72 and Shelly Palmer 74.
