The Riverside council Monday received a purchase offer for a three acre plot in its commercial area for a future medical clinic, but rejected it as too low.
Local realtor Ken Kucera presented the offer from Liberty Group 5 (with Jerry Fuller as signatorie) offering $2.29 per square foot on which it would build a clinic to lease to the University of Iowa Community Medical Services (UICMS). The city had put a $4 per square foot price on the land.
Prior to voting twice on the offer, the council discussed what it would cost the city for infrastructure such as a road and sanitary sewer system. The city has generally installed curb and gutters for roadways.
