Riverside looks to 2009 and beyond

Creating a second outlet for the Riverside elementary school, improving drainage throughout the town and seeking a future community are among the immediate and long-term goals set by the Riverside city council. All were discussed in the work session Monday prior to the regular meeting, including what kind of financing it will take to do them, especially the additional roadway, estiamted at $150,000 (not including land purchases).
The community center idea includes having a swimming pool and a library on a site near the school to permit a 28E agreement with the school for use of the facilities. The members agreed it is a long-term goal, possibly as far as ten years.
However, when it comes to immediate goals, the city will close February 2 on the sale of three acres of land on which Liberty Group 5 will build a medical clinic for the University of Iowa Community Health Services.
