Eunice Lenore Marner, 93, of Wellman, Iowa, died suddenly Sunday, November 2, 2008, at the Silver Pond Assisted Living Center in Wellman. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church, near Wellman. Rev. Don Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery, near Wellman. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Wellman. Eunice Lenore Marner, was born July 3, 1915, at LaJunta, Colorado, the daughter of George and Sarah (Kreider) Reber. She moved to Iowa with her parents at 3 years of age and located in the Wellman area. She attended the rural Hickory Grove and Center High Schools after which she did housework for families. Accepting Christ as her Savior, she was baptized and remained a member of the Lower Deer Creek Church until her death. December 1, 1935, she was married to Ora Marner, at the home of John Y. Swartzendruber in Johnson County, Iowa. They settled on a farm and made that their occupation. They lived and worked together for 49 years, leaving in 1984 to move to Wellman. She was active in teaching Sunday School at Lower Deer Creek Church, WMSC, Free Will and she volunteered at the Crowed Closet in Iowa City.
She is survived by her husband Ora Marner of Wellman; a son, James Marner and wife Charleen of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter, Loris Miller and husband Merle of Granger, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Michelle Pashos, Kevin (Carol) Marner, Marta (Kevin) Guckes, Vonda (Chris) Briles, Lisa (John) Allen, Kimberly Roby, Krista (Brian) Kielty, Scott (Ann) Miller; 20 great-grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Zachary and Alexis Pashos, Megan (Matt) Viox, Kendra (Chad) Stearman, Brycen (Kacey) Marner, Aaron, Jessica and Carmen Briles, Emma and Amie Kielty, Allison and Benjamin Roby, Wilson, Samuel, Elliot Miller; six great-great-grandchildren, Brooke Viox, Chase Stearman, Michael Pashos, Danielle, Rachel and Audrey Guckes; a sister-in-law, Melda Reber and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Virgil, Walter and William; a sister, Mary Delila Reber; and two nephews.
