Dorothy Louise Musser, 93, of Lone Tree, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in the Lone Tree Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 24, 2009, in the United Presbyterian Church, Lone Tree. Pastor Debra Lind-Schmitz officiated. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue or Amenity Hospice of Cedar Rapids. Dorothy Louise Doerres was born March 8, 1916, in Lone Tree, the daughter of Albert “Bert” and Elizabeth (Jarrard) Doerres. She was a 1933 graduate of Lone Tree High School. February 14, 1935, she was united in marriage to Robert Musser in West Liberty, Iowa. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Muser was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree where she taught Sunday School for many years and served in offices of Church Women’s Group. She was a member of Carnation Rebekah Lodge of Iowa City, was a 50-plus-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader.
She is survived by her children, Kay Mincer and her husband, Gary, Riverside, Iowa; and Krista Levell and her husband, Don, Coralville, Iowa; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Louis Von Woglom, Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Musser, in 1984; a son, Dewayne, in 1974; a daughter, Karyl, in 1990; three brothers, Dewayne, Warren, and Donald; and one sister, Dorigan.
