Robert Murdock, 78, of Conesville, Iowa, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, in the Lone Tree Health Care Center, Lone Tree, Iowa, following an extended illness.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in the Conesville Cemetery. Rev. Linda Nicklin officiated. In lieu of flowers, a general memorial fund has been established. Sympathy notes may be left for Mr. Murdock’s family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Robert Ray Murdock was born March 5, 1931, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Gail and Margaret A. (Lantz) Murdock. He was a 1948 graduate of Lone Tree High School. April 29, 1950, he was united in marriage to Naomi Jane Wehmeyer at the Lone Tree United Methodist Church. He was a farmer in the Conesville area. He owned and operated Southeast Iowa Seed Services. He was a member of the Columbus Junction Masons and the KAABA Shriners. He enjoyed melon, grain, hot, and truck farming; hunting; fishing; woodworking; rebuilding machinery; dining out; and working at the L-Bar-M Rodeo.
Mr. Murdock is survived by his wife, Naomi Murdock, Conesville; his children, Bob Murdock and his wife, Lisa, Niles, Michigan; Linda Nicklin and her husband, Bill, Floris, Iowa; Mike Murdock, Conesville; and Julie Denkmann and Tim Sands, Conesville; 12 grandchildren, August, Susan, Tim, Holly, Gabriel, Brandie, Ryan, Steven, Samantha, Zach, Jennifer, and Ben; 11.5 great-grandchildren; and two two brothers, Kenneth Murdock and his wife, Peg, Georgia; and Gary Murdock, Lone Tree.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick Murdock; a daughter-in-law, Teri Murdock; and one brother, Clifford Murdock; and one sister, Esther Powers.
