Norma Fry

Norma Fry, 82, of Kalona, Iowa, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona from complications following a stroke. Services will be held at 10 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona with Pastor Rolland Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 23, from 3-7:30 p.m. at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be held at a later date. Her body will be donated following the service. Norma Fry was born May 3, 1927, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Erma (Flynn) Sleichter. She was a graduate of Kalona High School. She was united in marriage to Earl Fry June 7, 1949, in the United Christian and Baptist Church, Kalona. She was a nurse’s aid at Pleasantview Home for 17 years, a member of United Christian and Baptist Church, and Kalona Historical Society where she served as a tour guide for many years and as a volunteer, a member of Idris Club, and the ABC Card Club. She enjoyed cooking and quilting and she was well known for the special Christmas candies she made.
Mrs. Fry is survived by her husband, Earl Fry, Kalona; two sons, Bryan and wife Pam Fry, Urbana, Iowa; David Fry, North Liberty, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jason and wife Kathleen Fry, Jeremy and wife Jamie Fry, Lindsey and husband Travis Wendling; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn Fry, Kirstin Fry, Jacob Fry, Colin Wendling; two sisters, Edith and husband Phil Morehead, Marion, Iowa; and Dora Kallaus, Kalona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Vern, Carroll, Daniel and Richard Sleichtor; and one sister, Dora Chapek.
