Opal TeBockhorst, 92, of Kalona, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at her home in Richmond
following a lingering illness. Services were held Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond with Father Rich Adam officiating. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Richmond. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Washington County or Holy Trinity Catholic. Condolences may be sent to www.peterseimfuneralhome.com.
Opal TeBockhorst was born November 16, 1917 in Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Ela Kinney Bain. She was united in marriage to Urban TeBockhorst on November 16, 1940 in Richmond. She was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated Goober’s Tap in Richmond for many years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, GYP Club and Forester’s. She enjoyed her grandchildren and playing cards.
She is survived by three children: Jane Smutz of Richmond, Joe and wife Gwen TeBockhorst of West Chester, James and Diane TeBockhorst of Kalona; 13 grandchildren: Ryan TeBockhorst, Shane Smutz, Brad TeBockhorst, Joe TeBockhorst, Tad TeBockhorst, Brandon TeBockhorst, Jory TeBockhorst, Erin TeBockhorst, Tiffany TeBockhorst, Tabith Hahn, Casey Peck, Megan Fuglsang, Kelsey TeBockhorst; eight great-grandchildren, and a foster sister, Oleta Keifer of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Urban in 1995, son Jack in 2004, great-grandson Jakob Peck and four sisters.
