Supervisors OK RUSS application

The Washington County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a RUSS application at the USDA Rural Development for funds to install a sanitary sewer system in the unincorporated town of Rubio.
Estimated total cost for the project is $312,000 with 75 percent of it sought from the USDA rural grant program. The remaining 25 percent would be a loan from the same agency.
The loan would amount to an approximate $36 annual payment from Rubio’s homeowners.
Installation of the system is a mandate from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
A similar order faces the unincorporated town of Richmond, which also is working with RUSS to secure funding.
The supervisors also received regular quarterly reports from the record and auditor’s offices and approved re-appointment of the current CPA firm for the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort.
