Water fine in Riverside

The boil order for water in Riverside was rescinded last week, and Monday council members learned that the order, from the Department of Natural Resources, was in response to break in a main.
City Administrator/Clerk Tina Thomas said Riverside may need to check into have a form of Robo calling to keep residents informed in any future crisis situation.
In other business, the council in its record 20 minute meeting:

  • approved a $785 matching fund grant for Brenda and Rod Mickel for window replacements at Mickel’s VintageVille business in downtown Riverside. It is part of the cityÕs grant program to provide incentives for downtown revitalization;
  • in the absence of Christine Kirkwood, Thomas provided details for the planned dedication of the Veterans Memorial November 11. Washington County Deputy Jared Schneider was asked about having an officer to handle traffic during the ceremony;
  • approved the tax abatement for Robert Schneider, 102 Kleopfer Avenue;
  • approved payment No. 3 in the amount of $11,758,77 for Metro Pavers for street work;
  • passed an amended ordiance regulating parking on streets 31 wide or less which are curb and gutter ones. The motion stipulated a third reading;
  • were told by council member Mariellen Bower about problems with a tailgating driver on Highway 22 at the curve where there have been fatal accidents in the past;
  • were told by Bower and an audience member that speeding has moderated on Schnoebelen Street in part because of the Current story about a special patrol assigned to ticket anyone five miles over the 15 mph limit near the school.
