Highland girls over Columbus
The Highland girls’ basketball team crushed Columbus at Columbus Wednesday, February 4, 64-27.
The Huskies jumped out to a 10-5 lead by the end of the first quarter and had a 30-14 lead at halftime. Highland held Columbus to single digits in each quarter.
Kayla Schneider was the leading Highland scorer with 22 points, including five three-point goals. She also had a team-leading seven steals on the night. Chelsea Miller and Anna Sweeting each scored nine points and pulled down 18 rebounds.
Jody Fink, Highland head coach, said, “This is what the doctor ordered for us. This was a good win for us in a nasty schedule of make-ups. We moved the ball well and took good shots. When we did miss we were getting a second opportunity normally. ”
“Defensively we had some breakdowns, but we were playing more kids than normal with our injury problems and getting some valuable experience for our youth.”
